OUGD403:
After pinpointing my preferred designs and experimenting with the letter forms i went on to take the design into a digital format allowing a sleeker finish, and making it easier to change the variables in comparison to hand draw. these are my final developed designs for 5 different logos for my budget commercial airline.
This design is based around the 'illi' representing a journey getting from one point to the other. I feel the turquoise works best linking to the colour of the sky as well as pairing well with the the black outline creating a clear readable logo.

With this logo I took a more bold approach, really letting the futura font stand out in caps. I did this to press on the point that futura uses single straight strokes, trying to represent a straight for quick journey. I replaced the 'A' cross bar with tittle to make the text feel less formal, although i do feel this makes the text feel a bit sci-fi. I feel the yellow works best creating a warm mood.
I based this design around the taking off of a plane. the triangle representing a ramp which I then angled the text on to. Although I like the aesthetics of the design I feel it is not legible enough to be a logo. the green design works best as it looks united and fluid.
I then went on to experiment just the 'illi' part of the logo to represent the brand in a smaller more symbol based aesthetic. I felt the best way to show this is through the loading screen of potential app. I feel this looks professional and clean due to to bold but warm condensed logo.
This design was created on a curve, I feel this gives it a more approachable feel, and fits in with the low budget aim. I manipulated the tittles to try and create the trail of a plane in the sky. I personally like the ways this looks but I feel it doesn't communicate a trail of a plane. therefore I feel the middle design works best due to its simplicity. Weighing on the connection between the M and Y, showing a journey from beginning to end.
This design was focused on the spacing between the letters trying to give the impression of space and comfort, a key aspect i consider when flying. I feel the middle design is most successful. I have curved the top of the letter forms and kept the bottoms straight creating a straight clean cut logo whilst still bubbly and not to formal.
From this I then chose the designs which I felt worked best, putting them into context by superimposing them onto where the logo for a commercial airline would go. As seen below in a boarding pass ticket. i feel the logo creates a friendly personality for the company and gives off the vibe as a budget airline.
Finally I had to see what one of the potential logos looked like on a plane. I feel this design did not work particularly well in this context. I felt the box effect didn't convey the brand i wanted to portray when in context. The yellow un dotted version of this design i feel would have been more successful due to its simplicity.
